This started out as a drum track, put together on an online drum machine (DrumBIt). Then I got distracted by the repetition of it and, joining the dots, I started thinking of the repetition in blues and the social dimension to that. So some clanging and various synth effects got added in to try and make it sound more like a train moving, pulling into a station, then moving on again. I had to do the screech of brakes myself! The station announcer bit was me sitting in the bath, doing two versions of the same lines, to simulate that distorted echo effect you get (which nobody really understands - I can provide lyrics for that too!). There's a bit of live recording from outside on the street mixed in low as well. The whole idea of the lyric is to talk about current politics and this 'not for turning' mentality that's made a comeback from the 1980s - no matter how bad it gets.
